Gotta Love Chinese Food! Fortune Cookie Says So…

I don’t know what my family loves more, eating Chinese food or getting the fortune at the end. Now we’ve watched the show Unwrapped, and we’ve seen how fortune cookies are made. You would think that the mystique around the cookies would have faded by now, but no! We still get a thrill every time the plastic wrapper pops, expelling the bit of air inside and we break the cookie in half to find our fortunes waiting for us. Do we care that it was mass-produced and hundreds of thousands of people are getting the very same fortune as we? NO! We sit there in our little booth and believe that THAT fortune, no matter how many others received it, was really meant for us! I know, SO funny.

Well, just the other day, there we were, my husband and I,  in our little booth yet again, having enjoyed our tasty egg rolls, Won Ton soup, and Poo Poo Platter, when our waitress comes over with our little treasures. Here is what mine said:free high resolution photo of Chinese takeout food

“Act as if it were impossible to fail.”

Wow! How awesome is that a fortune! And so I share my good fortune with all of you, so you may feel empowered by this mass-produced, eight-word  golden nugget of wisdom.

I don’t care what line of work you are in. I don’t care how bad things get personally. Act as if it were impossible to fail and your attitude will open your mind to all the possibilities and options that weren’t apparent when you were closed off and feeling like a failure. Positive thinking leads to positive results. It has been said by many and proven by many. Maybe that’s why so many people keep on saying it. Partner that statement with our fortune here today, and success is bound to be yours!

Psychologists have found through research that when a person changes their behavior, their attitude changes. Attitudes change, behavior changes. See the cycle? When you’re feeling down, smile. It’s okay if it’s fake, really, because research shows it will eventually become genuine.

Feeling like a failure? Act is if it were impossible to fail. It will eventually become genuine, too.

Hugs to all!

Deena

We all need some encouragement sometimes. I figured it was my turn to dish it out. 🙂

  2. Deena, I have a tiny message taped on my computer from a fortune cookie. It’s faded, but it starts with Affirm it, visualize it, and it will happen. I’m not sure what the rest say, because it’s so old I can’t make it out. I’m a strong believer in positive affirmations and positive energy. I know that some people thrive on negativity and it becomes a habit. It’s easy to get sucked into the darkness of despair. When you hold your head up high, and speak in a positive tone, people wonder why you’re so happy. They think that your life is richer or free of obstacles in comparison to theirs. But, we all have problems and issues. It takes an effort to look at the bright side of life and count your blessings. Thanks for reminding us.
