Summer Sizzles and Challenges

Summer Sizzles
As Release Day, August 7th, approaches for The Shadow Files, my excitement is overflowing. I feel I’ve been granted so many blessings to reach this point, and I’m ever grateful. This box set means so much to me, as it’s granted me the opportunity to link arms with so many authors I greatly admire. I realize I have a great amount of knowledge to give others just starting out in this business, but these women, besides being incredible storytellers, are incredibly intelligent when it comes to marketing and promotion for the author ready for the next level. So, this process became more than joining authors for the fun of giving readers 22 great reads. I considered it school for me. It’s been thrilling, enlightening, and invigorating. As with all things, there’s always something new to learn!

Challenges
It has been a challenging summer for me. Best laid plans of mice and men, right? I had planned on completing the expansion of Forbidden Union and working on something new, too. Well, my body decided that I shouldn’t. I wound up with thoracic outlet syndrome, meaning my left arm has been numb and my hand has been numb and riddled with pins and needles sensations since about a week into summer break. I’m not freaking out anymore about it, but it is a slow process to healing. My doctor equates it to a dimmer switch as opposed to a regular light switch. It has slowed me down to a stop and made me consider alternate ways to do my job. I learned about speech recognition recently and bought a microphone which hears my words pretty well for Google docs. So, although school is about to start up again and I’ve no completed novels, I have a direction, I’m on the mend, and I sure do know how to finish a project. I’ve proven it over 18 times. In the meanwhile, I will have a new release in 2 1/2 weeks which I hope you’ll love, I’ve settled nicely into my new apartment, and I eagerly await the start of a new school year.

All my love,

Deena
