Mother’s Nature
an instinctive propensity to protect
to shield from the harsh realities of the world
providing shelter from the cruelties that lie beyond her embrace
within her cocoon
lies safety, comfort, and joy
a gentle prod to go explore
a heart wrenching nod, an overzealous smile of assurance
as one step is taken with a tentative glance, then two
never looking back again
invisible tethers woven from the fabric of time
strong and secure
ready to reel in and release
an eternal place to migrate to again and again
a place called, home

This poem is beautiful, Deena. I miss MY Mother more every year. In our later years, Grandmom and I became each other’s best friend. That is the chapter I choose to remember. It enriches my life.
HAPPY MOTHERS’ DAY DEENA. I AM SO VERY PROUD OF YOU AND LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART.
MOM

Christine, thank you. I have a huge grin on my face. I hope you got to talk to your Mama today, either in person or in spirit. 🙂
