Timeless

based on Edward Elgar’s  Salut d’amour (A love letter)

 

We met as children

Running through the tall grass in the meadow

Both of us chasing butterflies and dragonflies

Never catching a one

Yet catching so much more,

A friendship that was timeless

 

We fell in love as teenagers

Dancing while our hearts soared

Both of us floating on a cloud

Blinded by each other,

Yet seeing everything

Clearly, for the very first time

 

We came together as husband and wife

And have shared a lifetime of

Trials and tribulations

Never forgetting the children we once were

 

Run with me now, my love

Dance with me

Into our twilight

So we may forever be

Timeless
